Reflection
Teamwork during Pre-Production:
My group didn't really have many problems while developing our plot or character concepts. We all had good ideas and listened to each other, and when we liked more than one idea, we sort of tried to blend them together. One problem might have been that we all had maybe too many ideas and we had to try and shorten what we had. Our group was definitely very organised and used the planning templates very well before filming. I find that they helped us a lot during filming, and even though we didn't have that many shots in our shot list, while we were filming we sort of made up a few that we thought of on the spot, therefore making more shots as we went along. I believe that our group were very efficient in class during pre-production as we all contributed to what each other were doing, while still having assigned jobs. Because Julian was a good drawer, she made the shot list; because we were going to use Isabella's house for filming, she was in charge of making the props/costumes list and to make sure everyone brought there things; I helped make the shot list; and because Lauren was the director, she helped with everything, giving ideas as we went along. Some steps we used to improve on this area were:
1. Only talking to each other about things associated with the task
2. Always checking in on each other and asking if everyone agreed with what they were doing (which we all usually did)
-- Could have improved on:
3. Making sure everyone had all of the work
Teamwork during Production:
The shot list helped a lot during the shooting. We all had a copy just in case. We would read what the shot list said and discuss according to the room we were using what we were going to do as sometime the description didn't match the location perfectly. The schedule was very helpful also. We had a great plan of filming all of the office things at school in classes, and then spend a few hours at Isabella's house filming all of the crime things there. We made effective use of the provided templates to assist in the filming process as if we were kind of stuck on what to do when referring to the shot list, we looked at the storyboards to help us get a better understanding of what it is suppose to look like to the viewer. We did have a few organisational problems during the production process. One of these was when Julian was late to school and missed Media Arts class. We worked past this by shooting all of the dialogue that Isabella had to say without Julian there and planned a date to shoot all of the shots where Julian talks. Unfortunately, a few other things went wrong. One the rescheduled day, Julian's mum forgot to bring in her tie, and when we went to get a camera from Mrs Usher, she had already left and locked up. Therefore, we had to film during a class time, which delayed both Julian and mines scenes that we were suppose to edit. We did just get them finished and handed in on time, but it was a really stressful process. Luckily, our group finished all of the shots as detailed in our planning (with still some extra shots to shoot and some advised re-shoots for our final edit).
Discuss
your individual feelings about the rough edit:
I believe that our group is reasonably happy with the final result (from a rough edit standard). We were rushing to try and finish it and hand it in on time that we made a lot of mistakes that we didn't notice at the time. I believe that when we do the proper editing, it will be much better as we will be able to add the sound we had discussed and we can make the colour better as well. We accidentally forgot to add some of the dialogue that was suppose to be in the last scene so if we added that in it would have been a little over three minutes like we planned. Our film requires some additional scenes and some re-shooting. Thankfully, we know what we are doing now and know what we need to fix. I would like to change the pace of the film. I find it to be a little fast paced and the editing needs a lot of work and more time. If we could start the project again, I would have tried to be a little more efficient when filming so we could of had more to to edit properly. Planning took less time than anticipated as we all worked together and shard ideas, therefore the process when extremely fast.
I don't believe that I undertook adequate and detailed reflections worth 5 weeks. I will try to remember and work on this for next term. I will try and do at least 1 reflection a week as I need reflections to support my work, which I hope by doing this, I have now done.
